today is kind of a special day. i will get to that in a little bit. (anticipation!!)
today, i had an epiphany. i randomly woke up at 7:30 am this morning to the sound of thrashing and grinding teeth and realized it was not dark in our bedroom. i glanced at my phone and was pleased to see it wasn't already noon. as i sit here writing this next blog post, it is 5:35 pm (or 17:35 as we go by in sweden) the sun is just setting. do you realize what this means?? spring is coming!!! i am beyond thrilled, ecstatic, excited, jumping-up-and-down happy about warm seasons coming our way! i have been here for exactly 2 months today and every day is a longer day but i feel that had become lost knowledge as i continue to try and throw myself into a new life. until today. it has put me in a productive mood and i am so happy for that. the dark, cold winter can go away right now for all i care.
because of this epiphany, i feel like today is also the day to start some countdowns.
in 2 days, petrus and i are going on a road trip to malmö. along the way we are stopping in lysekil, gothenburg, småland (where my ancestors once had a farm and immigrated from) and then to malmö for a photoshoot with his band, Lyy. i kind of have my fingers crossed to possibly ride the ferry to copenhagen, denmark for a few hours at least (if we can, that will be the 3rd country i have ever been to).

in 24 days, 3 of my friends (one being one of my besties and on her 27th birthday) are coming to visit ME for a week! this, my friends, is something i can barely wait for. i look forward for them seeing my new world and celebrating birthdays, st. patty's day, and just being on vacation!

in 43 days, i get to go to the 3rd country (unless we go to denmark, in which case this will make norway the 4th country) i have ever been to! i am going to norway with petrus' band Lyy for a long weekend. they will be doing a few gigs. that in itself is something to be excited about as i have never seen them perform live but i get to do it in norway! also, if you haven't heard them yet, here is their website http://lyy.se/index.php/en/ (i do not mind shamelessly promoting them as i enjoy the music and will soon by marrying the guitarist).
in 76 days, i will be arriving home in kansas city! the thought of this nearly brings me to tears. happy tears. i don't think a person can imagine how much you miss all the wonderful people in your life until you are so far away from them. i am so looking forward to seeing my family, my friends, my DOG!! oh how i miss her...

in 87 days, the swedes arrive a week before the biggest event thus far in my life. also, my bachelorette party is this day!! twofer!
in 94 days, i lose my maiden name/i'm getting married! pretty huge deal.

and in 97 days, i leave everyone all over again but this time my baby comes with me!!
which brings me to why this day is so special to me, it is penny lane's 5th birthday! this may be the first time i have remembered her birthday in 3 years and i am not even there to love on her. this makes me sad but knowing she is with my amazing parents definitely turns my frown upside down. happy birthday, penny lane!!!
